Shanghai Electric Rolled out 102m CFRP Offshore Wind Blade

September 1st, Lianyungang – Shanghai Electric declared the rollout of its S102 offshore wind blade in Zhongfu Lianzhong’s facility. With a length of 102 meters, the blade is developed based on GL2015 and IEC61400-5 standards with superior hurricane resistance performance.


Encompassing a CFRP main spar, preformed root and preformed auxiliary beam, the blade, marked by independent property rights, integrated a series of advanced innovations so as to reduce drastically the cycle time and improve operational reliability.

In a congratulatory press release publicized on the same day, Chinese leading carbon fiber producer - - Jiangsu Hengshen proclaimed its carbon fiber pultrusion laminates being adopted in the blade as an significant milestone to the company to enter into offshore wind market.

It is estimated that one single turbine equipped with S102 blades could be sufficiently support yearly electricity consumption of 50,000 families, contributing to a reduction of 50,000 tons carbon dioxide per year, helping China meet its target to reach carbon peak by 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2060.

According to the schedule, S102 would soon be delivered to Zhongfu Lianzhong’s test center for inherent frequency test, static test as well as fatigue test.
