Exel Composites, the world’s leading composite solution provider, has developed a composite doorsill with a Belgian blue hardstone look. The innovation is presented at the Fensterbau Frontale Fair in Nuremberg, Germany on 16-19 March 2016.

Exel Composites and the Dutch window and door manufacturer Venster Techniek have developed a composite doorsill with a Belgian blue hardstone look. “Venster Techniek turned to us to find a solution for their Flemish-speaking market to replace traditional bluestone doorsills with a more energy-efficient material”, says Mr. John Hartley, R&D Manager of  Exel Composites UK.

“We saw an opportunity in expanding our product range to doorsills with a traditional Belgian blue hardstone look in order to open up new markets especially in Holland and Belgium. The product was developed in close cooperation with Exel Composites. We will shortly be able to deliver exactly the product needed for this market”, says Mr. Jurgen Rensen of Venster Techniek.

The biggest advantage of composite doorsills over those made from traditional bluestone is the superior thermal performance. Glass fiber is an excellent insulator and thus eliminates thermal bridging, condensation and mold. Also, glass fiber profiles have high stiffness and strength, they are abrasion resistant and nearly maintenance free.

Exel Composites is exhibiting at Fensterbau Frontale Fair in Nuremberg, March 16-19. We are introducing our wide range of composite window frames, door sills and facade components. Exel Composites’ continuous manufacturing processes and wide selection of raw materials combined with our expertise in composites enable us to always offer the winning solutions to our customers.
