The Central News Agency reported on January 16th that EU declared that they find mainland China exporters sale the open-mesh fabrics of glass fibers to EU, and avoid tariff of 62.9% by transship the fabrics via Taiwan or Thailand. The material is mainly used to reinforce building construction. Eventually, EU decided tariff-levy will also cover Taiwan and Thailand.

It is reported that this measure was adopted to Malaysia in last July. EU decided once again this time to broaden the scope so as to prevent tariff avoidance from mainland China. The 62.9% tariff rate is the highest among various kinds of tariff pointed to mainland China exporters, while the lowest one is 48.4%.

EU with its headquarter in Brussels approved to enlarge the scope of tariff levy on January 10th and intended to make it effective on January 17th. EU started this five-year term trade protection policy in August, 2011 to protect French companies such as Cie. de Saint-Gobain SA against Chinese dumpling of below-cost products.

In 2011, EU said that exporters of open-mesh fabrics of glass fibers like Yuyao Minda Fiberglass from Mainland China increase their market share from 38.6% in 2006 to 51% in 2010.
